italia
we began our trip in Venice, taking a boat through to our hotel. the entire island is built upon wooden planks deep underwater, with rivers running between the streets.

we took the train to Lake Como, where we ate, swam, and ate some more.

next stop: Florence. we stayed for 2 days, exploring the city the first day and biking through Tuscany the second.
they were shooting a commercial, the smoke with the sunset was too pretty to resist
we visited a wine and olive oil factory located in a castle (and of course tasted some)

from Florence we went to Rome. we saw the typical tourist things: the Coliseum, the Forum, and the synagogue, and visited the Gallerie dell'Accademia.

and flew from rome to a small town in Sicily called Cinisi. there we stayed with my grandmother's friends, getting a view of italy different than the usual tourist experience.

the first night we were there was the final soccer tournament, where Italy played Spain. a huge crowd of people sat in the plaza, watching and cheering as the game was projected on a large screen.
the next day we visited an old Grecian temple, a city atop a mountain above the clouds, and the beach

we visited Enza's family's farm, where they grew olives, almonds, and a bunch of fruits.

and visited a flea market nearby
we then returned to Rome, seeing the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain.
on our last day we visited the Vatican.

we covered a lot of ground in just 2 weeks, and though we were exhausted almost all of the time, the trip was incredible.
